Mr. Ken Gross is a Pastoral Counselor, and completed his counseling program at the Houston Graduate School of Theology (HGST) with Summa Cum Laude honors. Mr. Gross also has an undergraduate degree (BSc) with Honors from the University of London (UK) in Chemistry and Physics & a masters degree in business (MBA) from the University of Oklahoma. He is also a member of the International Association of Certified Sex Addiction Specialists (IACSAS) and is a Certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Specialist (CPSAS).
At the core of everything Ken does in helping others are the twin values of the dignity & worth of all people. He also believes that no one is beyond redemption, that no person has to stay in a life of misery, depression, anxiety or hopelessness; that there is a hope for a better future for all people. In the pastoral work of counseling, Ken uses traditional cognitive therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & more modern therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These are empirically proven and time-tested and have consistently yielded results for many. He has specific in-depth training from an international authority in the area of sexual struggles such as infidelity, compulsion to use pornography, sexual self-gratification & same-sex attraction. Ken has also worked with men who have been sexually abused through the application of ACT in exposure therapy.
Mr. Ken Gross is on staff at a local church as the Counseling Pastor and is the Founder and Executive Director of a local non-profit that provides free support groups in the area of mental health to the local community. His Pastoral Counseling work at the Katy Center for Psychology & Counseling Services is supervised by Jerry Edmonson, Ed.D., Lead Pastor at The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch. He has been involved in large & vital local recovery ministries since 1992, & has provided expertise and advice in the start-up of four of those types of helping ministries in the past. He is also on the board of Katy Christian Ministries, a local assistance providing organization.
Ken, at HGST, participated in teaching fellow students in two areas of his expertise. These are addictions, particularly sexual addiction, & the application of scripture & its values to providing values based counseling to those that want help. He also provides a sex addiction training program through IACSAS for local counselors, counseling students & recovery group leaders. He has also written a comprehensive training program for support group leaders & facilitators, & has six books published. Ken expects to continue to teach at some level at local colleges & write more through his blog and other book projects he has in the works. The clients that Ken Gross works with present a multitude of struggles. The most common is the problem of intimacy issues often played out through sexual struggles, marital difficulties, & addictive behaviors.
